about

This might be my favorite song. Am I allowed to say that? This song turned out to be way darker and way more intense than I intended, but I ended up liking it that way. I don't really consider myself a rapper, nor this a rap song, but I needed to try something different. I am not a carbon copy of Andrew McMahon, and this song has much more Grieves in it than anything else.

lyrics

red run over on a night in october
that felt like the bloodgates were burst wide open
the winter or the summer here there is no difference
just one clear storm of complete indifference
same rays from the sun every single day
the city remains but the memories will fade
the past, yeah it's still calling
you know what it's saying but don't bother to follow
as if everything will just be better tomorrow
as if one good day will overcome the sorrow
emotionally stabile and empirically fragile
no leap between the cognitive and the tangible
do you remember, do you still remember?
as if i could forget everything that i told her
and the days go on like i really had a choice
i write with my hands for my lack of a voice

laying on the battlefield wounded in your heart
you could let them kill you off or you could tear them all apart
but the war is over and the soldiers are gone
you're laying in the snow singing quietly a song
"come have shelter anywhere you want
put out the sea and chase your fears"
uncertainty thrills me and december will chill me
and maybe they'll tell me if the heavens are willing
i'm so naive for ever trusting that angel
with her steel blade halo and her wings of camo
"come fly with me" but she better fly quicker
I'm staring at the tracks and the hungry eyes flicker
you'll stumble through the snow you could never escape
by the time you hear the sound it's far too late it goes

about

Leland Bailey San Luis Obispo, California

It all started in June 2012. Me, a beer, and a piano. I cranked out music to lyrics I hadn't touched in years. By the end of the week, I had finished my very first song. Of course, the story begins long before that.
